Apologies to everyone for not updating the site as frequently as I had been, alot of guff going on in my world at present. My current employer has decided to make my position redundant, have to take my hat off to them. Actually it has come at a rather good time, my wifes folks own a vitamin and health food chain of shops based in Toowoomba, we have one here in Brisbane as well. So, for us its off to Toowoomba to manage one of the shops and a lifestyle change for us. Very excited about that, as the house we have purchased is only 5 minutes away from the TARMAC airfield, brilliant! Another plus for the house is that it sits very high up and has 1 3/4 acres of land, perfect for side launch and electric. I'll have to leave the updates until new year, moving and what not takes a bit of time.

Alrightly, she has started, been in the back of my head for the last 2 years and now its time to get started. It will be rather slow, but since it took two years to start, lets hope its not another two before i finish it.
Started on the canopy section as I thought that would be a good start, easy on into it. Since the canopy had been sitting for so long, there was a small warp in it, so i've attached it to the fuse to sit in the sun for a week or two.

The clear plastic was cut out using a dremel and a steady hand, as you can see I went a bit larger on the cut, its easy enough to shave off to get to fit right.
So with that sitting and getting its shape back, I went on the the retract. John supplies these FEMA retracts, great bit of hardware.
Using the 9mm play i've shaped and fitted both ends to fit snug in the fuse.

I'll apply fibreglass to fix this in, but first i'll get the doors sorted and fit position correct. I've placed (roughly) the retract to come out in its extended position so that it sits just forward of the spar system.

To secure it so the timber doesnt move, i've placed a 9mmx9mm square spruce attached to both ends in place.

Extended position.

Sorry people haven't been online or posted on SW for a while, i've been dedicating my time to training for my first Half Ironman Triathlon. Its a very time consuming sport as well as expensive, so funds have been diverted into that. Some progress on the Sagitta, I do have a small window that I can complete and start some planes. I've covered the left hand inner panel of the Sagitta and started working on a Quatro, a small slope/electric glider, perfect for a quick fly.
I'll take a shot of my Sagitta progress this weekend and get it online for every one to see. Its so frustrating having the planes gather dust, but you can only one thing at a time with family commitments and work, but never the less the planes are still there to work on when I have some training downtime.
Until next time...

Anyone up for 1/4 scale Fox? John from CSM (Composite Scale Models) has them available, a real beauty of a model and made in Australia. The kit comes as a fuselage, wing/tail/fin cores, canopy, main and tail wheel plus the instructions to get her finished. Planes of this size can run into the thousands to buy, but this beauty is $595.00AUD.

Yet having not finished the Sagitta XC and the ASW, I find myself wanting to start something new, I really cant and dont have the time to have three planes on the go. You have seen my track record, slow and struggle to get one even done. After having almost writing off the Stepp 3 a few weeks back on a silly approach to raynbird, I had to repair it and had to really think, 'is it time to retire it', naaaaa, I'll build a new set of wing for her latter on. But it did get me thinking about the Eliminator 134, a real beauty of a plane, and something I could really use about now. Let me ponder over this while I finish the Saggy, the covering should be here this week.

Left hand wing is complete other than the final sanding and covering. I'll grab another picture of it done, but this will do for the time being. Just hope I can grab the nerv to throw this thing after the hours put in.
