Silent Wings was formed in March 2013 to provide an extensive administrative, training and management portfolio to the Maritime and Aviation operations industries, including commercial vessel owners and operators.
Lyn Wheater BA, FISTC
Business owner with 20 years experience in writing and implementing Safety Management Systems, Training Information Systems and Operational Procedures for the Maritime and Aviation Industries.
Lyn is the Secretary for the Commercial Marine Industry Association and also volunteers her time with the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron race committee. She has spent more than 17 years on the water including, crewing on commercial vessels, sailing and yacht racing.
An experienced Marine Technical Writer, Lyn also has a degree in Technical Communications and is a Fellow of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communication, plus she has gained certificates in Coastal Maritime Operations (Master Class 5), RYA Yachtmaster and a long list of other relevant qualifications in Maritime and Aviation operations and management.
Lyn has more than 12-years airline operations management experience and was one of the founding senior management team members responsible for setting up the operations for Virgin Australia International. Lyn’s understanding of regulatory compliance and setting up systems to comply with relevant Safety Authorities is second nature to her and she strongly believes that Maritime and Aviation have many similarities - both industries operate within highly regulated Safety Authority guidelines and both comply with national and international laws to ensure safe and efficient operations.
